Polishing Process for Sensor Faucets
High-Precision Surface Treatment for Premium Touchless Faucets Polishing is a critical manufacturing step in producing high-quality sensor faucets. It determines not only the visual appearance of the faucet body, but also the long-term durability, corrosion resistance, and plating adhesion. At our facility, each faucet undergoes a rigorous multi-stage polishing process to guarantee a flawless finish that meets international commercial-grade standards. 1. Pre-Polishing Surface Preparation Before polishing, the faucet body is inspected for casting or machining marks. Skilled technicians perform initial trimming, deburring, and surface leveling to ensure that all edges, curves, and contours are uniform. This creates a stable foundation for the following precision polishing stages. 2. Mechanical Rough Polishing The first polishing stage uses industrial grinders and wheel sanders to remove micro-defects on the brass or zinc alloy surface. This step eliminates tool marks from CNC machining and ensures consistent geometry. Proper rough polishing is essential for creating a smooth, even base layer. 3. Fine Polishing and Mirror Smoothing After rough polishing, the faucet body undergoes fine and ultra-fine polishing using specialized buffing wheels and high-grade abrasive compounds. This phase enhances brightness, smoothness, and surface reflection, achieving a true mirror-finish surface. The quality of this finish directly affects the performance of subsequent electroplating or PVD coatings. 4. Precision Hand-Polishing for Complex Surfaces Areas around the sensor window, curves, and internal corners are hand-polished by experienced technicians. Hand-polishing ensures that every critical area—especially where CNC machines cannot reach—meets both aesthetic and functional requirements. 5. Cleaning, Degreasing, and Quality Inspection Once polishing is complete, the faucet body is thoroughly cleaned with ultrasonic degreasing to remove polishing compounds and micro-dust. Components are then visually and mechanically inspected under strong lighting to ensure uniformity, smoothness, and zero surface defects. 6. Ready for Plating and Surface Treatment A professionally polished surface ensures superior adhesion for chrome plating, PVD coating, or powder coating. Polishing quality directly impacts corrosion resistance, color uniformity, and long-term durability—especially in commercial environments such as malls, hotels, hospitals, and public restrooms.
